Christmas in Hong Kong What to do in Hong Kong for Christmas? If you are finding the thought of Christmas in a new place overwhelming, take heart, you are not alone! It can be quite a shock to experience Christmas in a country that is not predominantly Christian. However, you can find traditional Christmas values, activities, and food if you know where to look. The supermarkets and speciality delicatessens start stocking Christmas staples from November and the big Supermarkets will take requests, if the item proves popular enough. |

Park n Shop and Wellcome have a large range of Western Christmas must-haves and Oliver's the Delicatessen have a huge range of imported delicacies. The food section of Mark's and Spencer's is definitely worth a look for anything to do with an English Christmas. City Super in the basement at Times Square have a good range of Christmas trees and decorations and their supermarket section is very good too. For a spiritual appetite, Hong Kong is well represented by the major Christian denominations and all advertise service times in Saturday's South China Morning Post. If you contact these Churches they should be able to give you information on everything from Carols by Candlelight to Pot Luck Suppers. If you are not entertaining on Christmas Day, consider going out to lunch at one of the Hotels or Restaurants in town. All offer a package lunch or dinner on Christmas Day. I would advise booking early though. Another option is one of the restaurants on the Peak. Enjoying a delicious Christmas lunch and the view from the top would make for a memorable Christmas! You'll find that if you are prepared to do a bit of research, Hong Kong can provide anything you want or need for Christmas! |
