Le Fauchon in Staunton came in 1996 as the first foreign restaurant in Soho area.

Although a very expensive dining place, it is well known to many politicians, mass media artists and wealthy people in Hong Kong. Every Wednesday and Sunday, they import fresh food from France ranging from fresh oysters and pate (goose-liver paste) to vegetables. Not a word of a lie, the vegetable come direct from the owners garden in France. They don't offer a set lunch or dinner, so lunch a la carte can easily cost between HK$600 and HK$700. One of the most popular dishes is the French style Sea Food Platter costing approximately HK$1,200 for 4 persons. The most highly recommended dishes are the smoked eel and French style goose-liver pate costing between HK$200 and HK$300 each. Even their house wine can be very expensive and out of reach to the average middle class diner. This is really a place for enjoying the good taste of food rather than the typical French style environment although the open kitchen does give you the feeling you are dining comfortably in someone's cozy home.
