China is definitely a great place for visitors to taste good Chinese dim-sum (dumplings) and experience a typical traditional Chinese banquet room. While it may lack the noisy atmosphere found in a a typical Hong Kong Chinese eatery, you will still find it a worthwhile experience. Service is excellent and you can enjoy the peaceful surroundings while listening to the songs and chirps of birds inside 2 large cages located in the middle of the restaurant. The restaurant is full of Chinese classic furniture and accessories. China serves Cantonese dumplings at very reasonable prices when compared to other good Chinese restaurants in town. Much of their menu is also excellent, though their Barbecue Pork Rice Dumplings can sometimes be a bit on the tough side. You may be tempted to try the "Drunk Prawns" in which the prawns are placed in a pot filled with Chinese wine and swim about to get 'drunk' and absorb the alcohol. Once the prawns have been fully marinated, they are removed and cooked for a minute or so. Visitors beware, this meal takes quite a while to prepare and may be a bit of a disappointment flavor-wise. Some say that this dish is actually meant to get the 'guests' drunk, due to the long preparation time enabling the waiter to serve more wine and hopefully collect more tips!! Funky & R&B music every Friday & Saturday 11pm-3am |
