Central District

Every visitor to Hong Kong will at one time or another pass through Central, whether it is simply sightseeing or on their way to Lan Kwai Fong for dinner and drinks after a long day out. Central is the heart of all commercial activities in Hong Kong and most banks and multi-national companies have their offices here. Make sure you look up in this vertical city or you'll be sure to miss the Bank of China Building, one of the tallest in Hong Kong. Nestled in amongst these skyscrapers, providing a really bizarre contrast to the surroundings, are Hong Kong Park and the Botanical and Zoological Garden. After the short walk uphill, the aviaries, sculptures, gardens and animals will overwhelm you and the best part is, admission is free!

Ready for some shopping? Queens Road and Des Voeux Road are the 2 major streets in Central and hidden in between the two are Li Yuen St. East and West, the best spot for bargains in Central. They are great spots to look for fabric, clothes, handbags and souvenirs, but don't forget to bargain. Antique lovers should take the Escalator up to Hollywood Road and Cat Street where they'll find Chinese antiques and collectibles for every budget. Feeling tired? Why not rest your weary legs in one of the trendy cafes or restaurants of SOHO.

Moments of the Past
This is how the Victoria Harbour looked like from the Peak half a century ago. Note that the tallest building was the white Hongkong Bank building by the coast line. Tsimshatsui was merely a piece of flat land on the top of the picture. If you want to retreive more moments from the past, we will provide photo album for the old Hong Kong. Please come and check us again.
